Ideas for Home Light Efficiency

As we have mentioned previously; if you want the most efficient lighting in your home, then you need to be investing in LED lighting. Yes. The bulbs can be expensive. However, the benefits are numerous. Not only will they be consuming a lot less power than your typical light bulb, they are also going to be a lot brighter.

Most homes will not actually need to be converted to use LED lightbulbs. Luckily, most companies produce LED lightbulbs that you can just plug-in to the existing light socket. You just then turn on your light switch like normal, and your room will be filled up with a wave of light!

Outside of your home (i.e. in your garden), then you may want to avoid using ‘powered lights’ altogether. If you shop around, then you may be able to find a few solar powered lights that you can use. Many of the best modern solar powered lights will have their own mini solar panel on them. This means that you do not need to do much other than put them in the ground (or on the side of the building). While they are not necessarily going to be the brightest lights in the world, they are certainly going to look brilliant!

If you want to try and reach peak light efficiency in your home, then you may want to talk to an electrician. There is a chance that they will be able to wire a solar panel set-up into your lighting system. This means that almost all the power of the lights will be provided by the solar panel. Other electronics in your home will also be able to benefit from the use of this solar panel. Yes. It can be a bit costly to purchase a solar panel system, and it may take a few years to recoup the cost, this is probably the ‘greenest’ thing you can do for your building. This is great if you are planning to sell your home later on. A lot of people are willing to pay premiums for homes that have solar panels installed. You will almost certainly recoup the cost of the solar panel system then!

Remember; even if you are not going to be upgrading your lights right away, upgrading a few of them to more modern lighting options would be great. Even replacing the bulbs in a couple of the more frequented rooms in your home could help to shave a few dollars off your energy bill each year. You will also be able to enjoy the fact that the bulbs will not need to be replaced anywhere near as much, which means that you will be able to save even more cash.
